Using AOL 8.0 - Receiving E-mail

To receive an E-mail, start AOL and log on. Then select the Read button (Figure 2-25) Figure
You will then see a screen like shown in Figure 2-26. Figure On this screen you need to first select the E-mail that you want to read and then click on the Read button. Note AOL is a web based E-mail service. Thus the E-mail you are reading is not on your computer but located on a computer (server) at your AOL providers site. Thus you have to be on line to read it. In this example, the E-mail selected has the 1Lioncut.jpg file attached. It is the one we sent in the Send E-mail example. To view the picture, you will need to open it.
Figure 2-27 shows the E-mail and the Download option. Figure
Click on Download and you will then receive a virus warning as shown in Figure 2-28. Figure You will need to click on the Yes button to download the picture. If you do not want to have to do this each time you download a picture, you can also click on the Don't show me this warning again box.

The screen in Figure 2-29 will now appear. Figure It will allow you to choose where you want the photo to be saved on your computer. The default is AOL Downloads. You can change it to anything you desire. Once you have the desired location, click on the Save button. The download will then begin.

Figure 2-30 shows the download with the picture partially downloaded. Figure
In Figure 2-31, Figurethe full AOL desktop with the downloaded picture is shown.
